FlexPen
Also known as: Novo Nordisk FlexPen, FlexTouch
Novo Nordisk's disposable prefilled insulin pen — one of the most widely prescribed insulin delivery devices.
FlexPen and FlexTouch are Novo Nordisk's disposable prefilled insulin pen systems. The FlexPen uses a standard push-button mechanism; the FlexTouch uses a unique low-force push-button design that requires less thumb force — beneficial for patients with hand weakness or arthritis.
Both systems come prefilled with 3 mL (300 units) of insulin. Available insulins in pen form include NovoLog (aspart), Levemir (detemir), Tresiba (degludec), Victoza (liraglutide), and Ozempic (semaglutide), among others.
Flex pens require NovoFine or compatible pen needles (purchased and attached separately). Pen needles are typically covered under Part D pharmacy benefit. The pens themselves are part of the insulin prescription and covered under Part D when on formulary.
